Rhea Obels is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She is currently on the verge of completing her Bachelor of Dance in Education at Codarts, University of the Arts.

Rhea is an open-minded, dedicated, and communicative artist who values the importance of dialogue in her work. She challenges herself and those around her to grow, is very eager to learn and particularly enjoys learning through collaboration.

She uses dance as a powerful tool to connect people and to stimulate self-expression and creativity. For her, dance is about feeling, connecting, exploring, and expressing.

Rhea has experience teaching people of all ages, from creative dance to three-year-old children to modern dance to eighty-year-olds. She has experience in the amateur field as well as in primary and secondary education in both the Netherlands and Perú.

“I know Rhea as a very curious and pleasantly critical person. She can add a twist to the dialogue on challenging topics that keeps everyone in the group on edge, including myself as a teacher. Rhea is a connector. She can listen to everyone's perspective and can make good trade-offs and explain them clearly. A talent she can use very well as a dance maker and teacher.”

— Ingrid Stoepker: Head of Dance in Education and Music in Education Department at Codarts, University of the Arts

“I’ve got to know Rhea as sensitive, committed, communicative, ambitious and careful. She is able to work independent and she dares to make choices. As a teacher she wants best for all her students, she is taking responsibility and her classes are artistically designed. She creates a safe learning environment in which student can grow.”

— Arienne Zwijnenburg: Coordinator of Dance in Education at Codarts, University of the Arts and Blended Learning Specialist

“Rhea Obels approaches others with passion and dedication. She doesn't give up and will always find a way to deliver quality work, even if it means deviating from traditional methods. She is innovative and wants to experiment and learn as much as possible, which also encourages her environment to adopt an exploratory and learning attitude.”
