CHAMELEON
How to adapt to your surroundings?
Chameleon is a dance film which illustrates the difficulties and joy of interpersonal connection after a long time of isolation. This choreography was created while society was reopening all around us, after an extensive period of on-and-off lockdowns and regular quarantines. We found ourselves having to rediscover what it means to operate in a society and to navigate the complex terrain of interpersonal dynamics. With this piece, we would like to share that process with you. We have both spent a lot of time outdoors when everything was closed due to the pandemic, therefore we decided to record Chameleon outside. Our gardens became not only our dance studios but also our source of inspiration during this difficult period.
Chameleon was created at the request of the European Patent Office. It is a collaboration between the choreographers, dancers and filmmakers Silke Kloostermann and Rhea Obels and the French composer Emanuelle Da Costa.
